Gregory Lane Parking Issue

The Jackson Police Department is experiencing a high volume of parking complaints on Gregory Lane. Patrons of the Roadhouse Brewing Company located at 1225 Gregory Lane have been parking on various tracks of private property surrounding the Roadhouse location. As a result, the businesses and residents in the area are having difficulty accessing their homes and businesses and have often found their private parking spaces being occupied by unauthorized users.

The police department wants to advise the public that city ordinance 10.04.160 (T) prohibits parking on private property without the consent of the property owner. (See ordinance below).

10.04.160 Additional prohibitions as to stopping or parking.

In addition to those areas designated in the Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways adopted hereby, no person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with law or the directions of a police officer or traffic control device, in any of the following places or for any of the following purposes:

T. On any private property without the express or implied consent of the owner or legal occupant of said property.

Vehicles that park in violation of city ordinance on private property should expect to receive a criminal citation and have their vehicle towed from the location. The police department would like to avoid citing and towing cars, as no one enjoys coming out to find their vehicle gone, but the rights of the private property owners and residents must be respected.

Please help us solve this problem by planning ahead if you intend to frequent this location. Consider carpooling, taking public transportation, riding a bike, walking, or utilizing a taxi.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
