For the third year the Jackson Police Department has received a generous donation from a group of local citizens with marching orders to pay it forward.  So officers have been on the look out for people going above and beyond, and doing good deeds throughout our community.

Here are some of their stories:

While on patrol, one of our officers noticed a group of preschool children shoveling the sidewalks and driveways in their neighborhood.  As a result we were able to give them $300.  Click here to see the video.

We also learned of another group of student's in Ms. Miller's and Mr. Chambers' 4th grade classes who had been caught doing multiple acts of kindness such as washing cars, cleaning classrooms, a toy drive, a food drive and may others.  So we gave them $200 to assist in their efforts to spread some holiday cheer.  Click here to see the video.

For many years Michael (Mick) Dettmer has run the the valley's amateur radio network, which is part of the local emergency communications network.  He has also taught amateur radio (HAM) classes, of which several of our officers have attended and received their radio licenses.  While listening to local police radio traffic Mick has assisted in locating a number of suspects and/or suspicious vehicles and calling them in to police.  For all of his help throughout the year Mick received a small token of our appreciation, $100.  Click here to see the video.
