Associate Planner – Town of Jackson Planning Department 

(Salary $51,600 - $74,700 DOQ) The Town of Jackson is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and value-centered individual to work in an active year-round resort community with a progressive and comprehensive planning program addressing multiple issues including affordable housing and transportation.  The planning position includes a wide variety of new and redevelopment projects, residential and commercial projects, and implementing the new Land Development Regulations developed for the Town and County utilizing form-based codes.  Position also includes day to day administrative duties, phone/walk in customer service, and building plan checks.  Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or related field, one to two years experience in land use planning, excellent written and oral communication skills, and planning-related software expertise.  Preference will be given to applicants with experience working and living in a western mountain resort community. Police Officer – Jackson Police Department 

The Town of Jackson is accepting applications from both lateral and entry level applicants.  Salary Range $50,329- $72,918 DOQ, full benefits. The Police Department is seeking experienced, motivated, and value-centered individuals with proven leadership skills to join our law enforcement team.  Jackson is an active year-round resort Town and the Department has a community oriented policing approach.  Primary duties include public service and protection through a variety of methods including law enforcement, crime investigation and prevention, patrol, call response, initiative and discretion, and apprehension. Legal Extern – For Credit-Legal Department

The Town of Jackson is accepting applications for the position of Legal Extern. This, for credit position, is under the direction of the Town Attorney. The legal extern may conduct legal research, gather evidence, develop arguments and testimony, analyze legal issues, recommend plans of action, prepare legal instruments, reports and correspondence, and gather other information to assist the town attorney in decision-making processes. Substantive areas of law the extern is likely to explore include, municipal law; constitutional law; administrative law; contract law; local government law; land development regulations, zoning and land use law; franchise law; municipal code issues regarding permitting, licensing, public safety, peace, morals, and motor vehicle/traffic issues.

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to a bachelor’s degree plus a minimum 1 year completed towards a law degree. Applicant must have excellent written and oral communication skills, computer experience, and good references. The number of credits earned, deadline for application and duration of term will be in accordance with the requirements as set forth by the student’s law school externship program and volunteer work may continue after school requirements are filled based on mutual agreement.
