Please Don't Pour Grease Down the Drain!

HERE'S WHY:

Grease is often washed into the plumbing system (typically through the kitchen sink). The grease then sticks to the insides of sewer pipes and over time this build up can block an entire pipe leading to:

1. Raw sewage in your neighbor's home

2. An expensive and unpleasant clean-up that the owner must pay

3. Potential for contact with disease causing organisms

What can you do to prevent this?
  • Never pour grease down sink drains or in toilets;
  • Do not put grease in garbage disposals;
  • Scrape grease and food scraps from plates, trays, pots, pans, utensils and cooking surfaces into a can or the trash for disposal.
